Welcome back! We took a couple of weeks off for vacations here in the middle of the year. During the newness of 2017, we all started this journey of blogging together. Hitting the halfway point offers an opportunity for reflection on what we’ve accomplished, what we’ve enjoyed, and where we feel we can do better.
Prompt: Write a post reflecting on the last half year of blogging.
Here are some possible topics to help get you started:
- Share your favorite posts that you’ve written and tell us what they mean to you.
- Share your three favorite posts that others in the #edublogsclub have written and tell why you loved them.
- What has been your biggest challenge during the last six months of blogging? Why?
- What would you like to do differently over the next six months of blogging? Why?
- What has been your proudest moment in blogging over the last six months? Why?
- How do you feel that blogging about education has made you a better educator?

My latest! I think I am only 9 posts away from catching up now! 😀
You’re getting so close, Melanie! 🙂
This is my first ever attempt at blogging. My hope is that this will enable me to stay more connected with all my students and be more effective at sharing important events and assignments.
I have 5 preps, I offer 3 different certifications, two of which require the full year of instruction to complete. I am the HOSA advisor and department chair for the CTE department. Additionally, My husband and I are full time pastors of a church plant that we started in 2014. Every role I hold, I consider very important but it can get really difficult to keep it all together. Every year I look for ways to be better organized, and simplify the tasks in front of me. This year I am more hopeful as it will be the first year that I have not been required to take on a new course and my preps decreased by one, so we are off to a good start.
I have been reflecting over the years past and what I can do different. The word I keep hearing is SIMPLIFY! I am constantly looking for new ideas but I think this year the aim will be to perfect what I am already doing and, with the exception of the blog, not to try anything new.
If anyone out there has some tips on keeping it simple I would love to hear.
Excited to get the year started!!!
You are a busy lady. I teach in a Christian school and can empathize with the number of preps and the need to connect with students/families. You’ll be in my prayers. BTW, I’m a first time blogger here as well. Blessings and prayers on your year!

Noticing a lot of first-year School Librarians asking for advice in my Facebook groups, so instead of reflecting on my Edublogs Club blogging–which has been so inspiring–I decided to reflect on my first year as a newbie School Librarian and offer 3 Strategies for a First-Time School Librarian to help them out. https://goo.gl/Zvtdrj
I like books… a lot https://readersbeadvised.wordpress.com/2017/07/13/reflecting-on-blogging/
