Our Class Blog List Has Been Updated — Is Your Class Blog on The List?

Look at this!A New Year means time to update the Check out Class Blogs list which has been growing since November, 2008.

About the Class Blog list

It now contains over 200 class blogs, sorted into different categories based on age, subject area and type of blog.

The list was set up so educators can check out different types of class blogs to get ideas for their own class blog while also making connections with classes in other countries.

I’ve worked through ALL the blog URLs in the comments on Calling All CLASS blogs…Please Share Your Blog URL With Us! to:

  • Remove blogs that have been deleted or are no longer active (haven’t updated since Jan, 2009)
  • Insert links to the new Class blog for educators who create a new blog for each school year
  • Add any blogs missing from the list

The list contains amazing examples of Class blogs from around the World!

How To Add Your Class Blog To The List

As Calling All CLASS blogs…Please Share Your Blog URL With Us! post is now over 12 months old, and contains over 250 comments, I’m closing off comments on that post.

Off course I’m still happy to grow our Check out Class Blogs list — I just need to restart the list to make it manageable again 😎

If you want to add your class blog to this list (or update your class blog details) leave a comment on this post to share with us:

  1. Your Class Blog name(s) and URL(s).
  2. Approximate age of students and are they primary, secondary or tertiary?
  3. If applicable, what subject area? e.g. maths, science, language, history, English, Art, Music, ELL, ESL, & EFL
  4. Country

Here’s an example of the type of information needed:

  1. Hi,

I have recently set up a blog on Edublogs and would like to be included in your class list. The name of our blog is Miss Lindgren’s Geek Speak. It is primarily used with our junior high students in my computer class. The goal is to introduce the students to blogging, impress upon them the safety and security necessary to post on the internet, and to help with one of our school improvement goals which is to improve writing skills.

    Thank you!

    Shari Lindgren

  3. Hi Sue
I have just set up a blog with my Year 2 class in Brisbane, Australia. It is the first time blogging for them but I have been blogging with Year4/5 for a couple of years now.
The blog is to encourage the children to reflect on their learning, share their learning, see a purpose for their learning and realise that learning doesn’t just happen within the 4 walls of our classroom.
    Thanks
    Wendy Randall

  4. Hello Sue:

Your tips have been a tremendous help for me.
This is my first year participating in the blog experience.
I hope to have my students participating real soon.
Our classroom blog will be designed to expand awareness of careers in Foods and Nutrition.

This is our Primary 6 class blog (9 and 10 year olds), primarily used as a home/school link to share pupils’ work and photos with family and friends all around the globe. Topic work includes: The History of Rock and Roll, Mary Queen of Scots, Medieval Scotland, Bridge Building and writing–among other things. This is a new initiative for us, so we are learning as we go.

  6. Please add our classroom blog to your list. I created it for my gifted classes from 3rd to 6th grades. We have many Blogroll links to challenging websites, postings/videos about our local birding and gardening projects, digital photo scavenger hunt, etc. It is also used as an example for other educators through our district’s technology classes by our technology supervisor.

  7. Please add our classroom blog to your class list. Initially, I created it for my gifted classes of third to sixth grade students as a provision of challenges. It has evolved into a continuously compilation of our classroom interests, events, and projects. The Blogroll has been utilized as a central location for research/challenges throughout our class and their regular education classes. Our district technology supervisor demonstrates our classroom blog in her technology classes as an example of how a blog is being used locally. It is also used as parental communication for those with Internet access. We have included a digital photo “Around School” scavenger hunt page, photos of birds at our classroom feeders, gardening projects, and student-created birding videos for the Great Backyard Bird Count. 8. Hi,

I’ve created a class blog for my grade six students. There are a dozen blogs linked from our classroom page below, each with four to five student authors. Topics cover history, science, and personal learning projects.

  9. I’ve started a blog for our after school program: Project L.E.A.D.
The students are 6th-8th graders, from Lauderdale Middle School. We’ve been posting technology tools and media tools to experiment with. We were planning to do some research on earthquakes since we are located on the New Madrid fault in West Tennessee, USA. The recent quake in Haiti has added another dimension to our research. 13. Our 6th graders have all been involved in a great persuasive writing project in their literacy classes. They wrote persuasive paragraphs about a variety of controversial topics and have posted them to blogs. One of the reasons we chose blogging as a writing platform is because it allows them to publish for a real world audience and receive feedback from the blog readers. They would love to have you (or your students) read their posts and make comments.

You can find all 7 blogs at http://east.mesa.k12.co.us/library/persuasivewritingblogs.htm

    Topics addressed are:

Access Denied – internet filtering at school
    Creature Feature – animal rights
Game Zone – video game violence
On the Brink – endangered animals
Out to Lunch – school lunches
Phone It In – cell phones in schools
    Trash Talk – recycling

  15. My blog is for my tenth grade honors English classes and my AP Lit and Comp classes. My students have all created their own blogs, which are linked to mine, and all are a way of transposing the analysis and discussion we’ve already been doing in class into a more creative and broader forum. Enthusiasm runs high as we are just getting started.

  16. My blog Head Outta the Book is for my five high school English classes (three tenth grade honors and two AP Lit and Comp). It’s a transposition of the type of work we’ve been doing in class only in blog form, but I’ve also had all of my students start their own blogs, linked to my blog, where they post their work and respond to each other. We’ve just started, but the enthusiasm is high.
