Helping Educators Get Started With Twitter

Unfortunately educators often dismiss Twitter, or fail to see the value of Twitter, when they’re first introduced to it.

Common misconceptions are that twitter is:

  • for celebrities, sports stars and journalists
  • like posting an update to Facebook
  • like an email where you need to read everything

Yet from experience, we know that most educators who use Twitter effectively say they learn more from their personal learning network (PLN) on Twitter than they’ve achieved from just about anything else.

The Educator’s Ultimate Twitter Guide 2013

This is why we’ve updated our Twitter guide and are proud to announce The Educator’s Ultimate Twitter Guide – 2013.

It includes everything educators need to know including:

  1. signing up for Twitter
  2. understanding Twitter language
  3. how to tweet, reply, retweet, send DM’s
  4. use twitter clients like TweetDeck
  5. participate in Twitter chats
  6. use Twitter with students
  7. and so much more!

Packed full of how to’s and video tutorials, it’ll walk you step by step through the process of getting started with Twitter or getting more out of using Twitter.

Check it out here!

Supplementary Twitter Guide Resources

We’ve also create two additional resources to complement The Educator’s Ultimate Twitter Guide 2013:

How To – Twitter Playlist

Fist off, we’ve created a playlist of all the Twitter videos we’ve included in the Twitter Guide.

You can check out the How to – Twitter Playlist, and all our other playlists and videos, on our Edublogs YouTube Channel or watch the playlist embedded below.

Twitter for Educators Pinterest board

We’ve also created a Twitter for Educators Pinterest board of all the resources included in the Twitter Guide for those who want to easily share specific resources from the Guide with their Pinterest network.

We’ll be pinning new Twitter resources to our Twitter for Educators Pinterest board — follow Edublogs on Pinterest or our Twitter Board to be alerted of new resources we find.

That’s it!

Let us know if the comments below, or on The Educator’s Ultimate Twitter Guide 2013 if you have any resources we should add to the Guide or other tips we should include.

We hope the guide helps!

  1. Hello Sue,

I’m Isaac and I’m just setting up my first Twitter account. And my objective for building the account is to create a PLN to collaborate with educators that primarily specialize in the areas of Math and Special Education.
